Jimmy Vegas - iPhone App
TomatoNetwork have worked closely with Jimmy Vegas to produce a Las Vegas tour guide application, the App is specifically developed to give new and existing clients all theinformation they could need while on holiday in Las Vegas.
Graphic Design
TomatoNetwork and Jimmy Vegas worked closely with an external design company to develop a strong identity for the App. All that's required are PSD formatted layouts with the right dimensions for the iPhone or iDevice ready to be used within the App. With the introduction of the iPhone 4 and it's retina display graphics have to be stored in 2 separate sizes on the phone, this is to provide backward compatibility for the iPhone 3GS, 3G and in some cases 2G.
Special Requirements
Since the App was to predominately be used overseas it was important to store all the data within the App itself. To allow Jimmy Vegas to roll out updates a sophisticated update module and data feed were developed, allowing users to download the latest data to the device before they leave on their holiday. The system can also detect if the user is outside the UK and warn them that updates may incur a cost for data usage. If you'd like to read more about how this works please visit our blog post here.
Backend Management
To allow Jimmy Vegas ease and flexibility to update the App we used the powerful DOCF backend. As you can see in screenshots (right) this allows categories and listings within the App to be added and ammened. The App works much like a directory with categories, sub-categories and business listings. Each business listing can have a title, description, rating out of ten, gallery and additional information in the form of a customisable button. Each listing can be added to multiple categories.
Android / Blackberry development
With the basis of the App developed we will now port this to Android and Blackberry, the platforms are different in design to the iPhone and require additional work.
